Natural Stone

It’s very important to ensure your natural stone tiling is well looked after with proper routine maintenance in order to keep them looking and functioning as best as they can. Because of their porous construction, natural stone tiles require more maintenance than a ceramic or porcelain tile. Instead of using regular cleaners that can stain or dull natural stone, ensure that your natural stone tiling is cleaned using specifically designed cleaners that contain no acids, and always make sure that you vacuum before cleaning to avoid scratching from grit and dirt.

Ceramic Tiles

Ceramic tiles are among the easiest types of tile, and surfaces in general, to keep clean. Spills are easily cleaned with multi-purpose kitchen and bathroom cleaners but be mindful that these cleaners should be suitable for cleaning grout too, as this can end up leaving the overall look of your tile work looking worse for wear if not.

Porcelain Tiles

Porcelain tiles, although easier to clean than natural stone tiles, take a little bit more care when cleaning compared to ceramic tiles. It’s always worth dusting off loose dirt and grit to avoid scratching before embarking on any cleaning with fluids and cleaners. Always test your cleaner on a small area to ensure no marking or staining occurs. Diluted multi-purpose cleaners can work well, or you can by specific cleaners for porcelain tiles which although more expensive, can be safer if you don’t want to risk staining your tiles. For tough stains or marks stronger cleaners can be used when done correctly.
